1. Have you ever been to a book festival? Which?
Held annually in Nashville the second weekend in October. Went last year and likely will go this year.
2. Are there any authors who would make you go to a festival so you could hear them speak?
A few. I seem to recall about 9-10 on this year's lineup whose works I enjoyed reading.
3. If you were to run a book festival, would you make it genre specific or just a general mix of things?
The Southern Festival of Books contains all sorts of genres, as well as featuring local authors as well as national bestsellers. That mixture was neat when I went last year. Stewart O'Nan, Donald Ray Pollock, Chad Harbach, Justin Torres...those were the more well-known of the ones whose autographs I got.
4. Have you met any authors? If so, who and did they meet your expectations?
Besides the ones above? Let's see? I have personalized/signed autographs from George R.R. Martin, Scott Bakker, Susanna Clarke, and Daniel Wallace. Those are just in-person. There are several other authors I've come to know beyond the stray Twitter or Facebook commentary. Worked with a couple of them on translations/proofreading their own translations, for example.
