Don't know what you've already read but for french classics, I'd recommend:
- Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand
- L'Ecume des jours, by Boris Vian
- Le Diable au Corps, by Raymond Radiguet
- Les Liaisons Dangereuses, by Choderlos de Laclos

Obviously there are also the Hugos, Zolas and Balzacs which are good.
