THE BELGARIAD is a decent YA fantasy series but it's also very childish. I read it when I was 12 or so and enjoyed it as the first epic fantasy I'd ever read. However, if you're much older than that and especially if you've read other, more advanced fantasies such as WHEEL OF TIME or LORD OF THE RINGS, then reading Eddings is seriously dropping down several levels. Some YA fantasy authors such as Rowling and Pullman remain interesting to read as adults, but Eddings does not fit into that bracket.
The first book of RUNELORDS is okay, not brilliant, but not too bad. It has a strong central concept (although it's one partially 'borrowed' from Guy Gavriel Kay's much stronger FIONAVAR TAPESTRY trilogy) and some good moments. Book 2 is absolutely awful, and the later books have been spun out into some horrible and joyless money-making franchise.
So I'd suggest going after something much more interesting to read. There's literally dozens of authors in the fantasy genre who are much better than these two.
