Odd list. Very spec-fic oriented, but even then odd.

Never Let Me Go
Great book - can't argue. Not Ishiguro's best, but he's so good that that still doesn't mean it isn't brilliant.
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
I did love it (the ending not so much, like most people), but I'm still somewhat surprised to see it in this list - one of the reasons why I say it's very spec-fic oriented...
The Corrections
Need to read.
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
Not sure I've heard of this...
The Known World
Or this.
Atonement
Meh. I mean, it's a good book and I liked it. But not top ten of the decade material, or even top hundred imho.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Not sure I'd pick this one over HBP, either, although I can see why he did, I think... if the list was specifically for children's books or YA books, it'd be a shoe-in, as it is it's a bit surprising again.
Lush Life
Never heard of.
Then We Came to the End
Or this.
American Gods
Seriously? It's pretty good, but not even Gaiman's best...
Books I really would've included (that I've actually read): Zadie Smith's White Teeth, Byatt's Children's Book, and no doubt others I'm not thinking of.

It starts out splendidly and keeps it up quite long, just not quite long enough.

It is quite boring in the beginning. And yet it has this strange appeal....
