"Unfortunately, straight white males are not usually very self-aware". Based on what evidence? It comes across merely as prejudice. (I wouldn't feel that strongly about it if I hadn't then seen her conversation with Amanda Rutter on Twitter, where she spent plenty of time calling her "Whitey", which enforced my opinion on this point.)
While I agree that there probably are many straight white males who (perhaps wilfully) haven't examined their opinions on such matters, I think that most of us today cannot avoid that kind of reflection. If we're interacting with the world at all, then the issue is constantly in front of us, and at least some soul searching will have taken place.

I'd say the evidence is widespread, in the simple comments one makes, the jokes told, the subconscious aversion when someone "different" walks along the same sidewalks or buildings, the stereotypes perpetuated on TV, etc. It's not something we're really aware of unless we actively try to think about it. It is, unfortunately, way too easy to overlook even with the media coverage of prejudicial affairs.
As for her comments, yes they are combative, but can one be racist when they don't have the full force of a social system behind prejudicial thoughts? That's been her point in several posts, when she's not lambasting someone for callous remarks by using heated rhetoric in return.

I don't find the tone blunt; I find it leading, patronizing and often wrong or inferring too much.

Agreed, in general. The tremendous bad faith and sophistry turn me off, though.

Mostly agreed with the article, but thought she undermined herself with her own racism.
