I don't think that's completely true anymore. *Small spoiler for Way of Kings*

Anyone knows when the next book of the series will be out?
I know it's going to be called Highprince of War*snip*
At the release event for Alloy of Law, someone asked him about The Stormlight Archives, and he thinks Book 2 will actually focus on Shallan, not Dalinar. Highprince of War is what he will name the book focusing on Dalinar, and he wanted to name Shallan's book after the book Jasnah gave her in-story. Unfortunately/Fittingly, that book is called The Book of Endless Pages, which is just doing the Internet's job for it. So working title is Book of Endless Pages, but at it's actual release it will be something else.
---and that Sanderson plans to start writing it after he's finished the last Wheel of Time book. If that includes editing and such, then it should be sometime within the next few months, and maybe we could expect the book within the first half of 2013. He says he plans to write the third book immediately following the second, but then he might take a slight break to work on an Elantris sequel before he returns to Stormlight Archive. He says that he plans to do two Stormlight books every three years until it's finished, with one stand-alone book in between every two Stormlight books.
Oh, we're also supposed to see a book of his called Scribbler sometime in 2012, last I heard. It's a steampunk story with chalk-based magic, and is already finished.
He plans to write the next Mistborn trilogy at some point in the future. There's a third Mistborn trilogy off in the far future plans as well, along with a new series that to some extent ties all his other books together, to be written once Stormlight Archive is over. Dude's ambitious.

And yeah, I think this is still the plan. There are other books and series/trilogies in there, he said that the Cosmere that ties all of his books together currently contains 38 books (I think. Might have been 36 or something like that). There is also a Warbreaker Sequel somewhere in there, he's calling it Nightblood for now (it's just an outline/idea so far, not actually written). I think I remember he was considering Warbreaker prequels too, but I might be wrong. And seeing how Alloy of Law came about, I'm guessing there'll be a ton of short little stories popping up sporadically.
He said at the signing, that his current plans and ideas for books will keep him busy till he's ~78, based on the rate he's written them so far.

I thought Stormlight was the series that ties all the other series together?

The character in question is Hoid, the Wit. And yes, he has been.
