So I shared a table with L.E. Modesitt at a book fair today. He's quite a nice guy.

Was at the Kentucky Book Fair in Frankfort, KY to promote my recent civil war book. Out of 180 or so authors, they put me at the same table as L.E. Modesitt, who was one of 2 authors I knew of there (the other being a friend). Very down to Earth guy, not pushy in selling his books, and generally very pleasant to chat with. Bought a copy of his Magic of Recluse and got it signed (I used to have it, but had to sell a lot of my paperbacks a while back).
I've only done a couple author events before, and I imagine he's done hundreds and hundreds, so it was pretty fun to be there right next to him. He's been publishing with TOR since they started out.
All told, I probably didn't sell enough books to justify the time spent, though perhaps some people may make recommendations to organizations they're with, but in the grand scheme, well worth the trip.
Just a fun little story.
