I think Vronsky was sincere, but because he was unmarried it was different.

Vronsky generally comes across as an honorable person, and his dedication to Anna was unwavering, even when she went completely off the deep end. I also noticed that he was accepted back into society after he and Anna returned, as long as she wasn't with him.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
