I find it very difficult to read more than one book at a time. I've tried before and it gets confusing. I'll forget part of the story in one book, or I won't go back to one book for a while and end up not wanting to. I find that it is a better reading experience to delve yourself into one world and absorb all the words of one book. For me personally. I think because my mind gets so involved in the world of a book, I have a hard time not finishing books, and reading other books at the same time.
How odd. I find I have compartments in my brain where I keep each book separately. That is why, when people are talking about a particular part of Wheel of Time, I suddenly find I know everything about it, even though I haven't read any for five years.

Are you a "monogamous" reader, as it were?

For the most part. Not always, but then it usually ends up with me divorcing the first book. *NM*
