At last we get the answers to some of the questions about Shepherd Book in the Graphic Novel "Serenity: The Shepherds Tale".

The book starts just moments before the attack on Haven Colony that that results in Book's death during the movie "Serenty". This scene sets up the concept of the Graphic Novel with Book asked how he meet up with the crew of 'serenity' - he responds: "well, if you look at your life as a chain of events, each responsible for the next and caused by the last, where does any story begin?"

The novel then moves back through Book's life - memento style - with the reasons for his actions in each part of his life explained by the events of his earlier self.

For those like me who still wanted Book's back story explained to make sense of some parts of the TV show, this gives just enough to answer those questions and packs in a nice surprise along the way.

I will say of all the theories I've heard about Book none got close to the full story.

If you like Serenity and Graphic Novels - this is well worth getting the TP.
