The first book I read of his is still my favorite: "The Eternity Artifact."
I was amazed at how much better he was at writing POV style chapters than GRRM is. He went to the point of not just writing the chapters from that characters point, but in that characters VOICE as well. The style of language and prose for each chapter was different, falling in line with the sort of person each character was, and their educational level.

I like his other books better but that could be that I prefer scfi. I liked Parafaith Wars and Adiamante.

The second one was good (Towers of Suset, IIRC). I read until about book 6-7. They were okay.
