Ned told Robert that Wylla was his bastard's mother, and Edric Dayne tells Arya that Wylla was his wetnurse and he and Jon were milk brothers. Wylla was a household servant at Starfall, though, so she is not the same woman they talk about in DANCE who is the captain's daughter. (I had forgotten where Wylla came from, except that she was Jon's mother, a fact I never really questioned before.)
I'm beginning to wonder if Jon Snow IS Rhaegar and Lyanna's boy. I spent this morning reading lots of different posts and blogs about this theory, and I'm beginning to wonder. There is a lot of supporting evidence, including a prohpetic dream in which a blue winter rose is growing out of a wall of ice.
If Jon Snow is not dead at the end of DANCE, I wonder if he will be the third head of the dragon. (Aegon, Daenerys, Jon)
Some people say the "Ice and Fire" part of the title means Stark and Targaryen, but I think it has more to do with Dany taking her dragons to the cold land beyond the wall to slay the Other and save the realm from the darkness and winter that never ends.
I was really happy when I read that in ADWD, but I assume the followers of the L+R-theory will just consider it a lie. I hope it's the truth, though.

1) Jon Snow's heritage is explained in book 4 & 5. His mother's name is Wylla, she was a sailor's daughter who sailed Ned Stark safely through a storm during Robert's rebellion after her father, the ships captain, died. The reason Ned wanted to tell him who is mother was so badly wasn't because it was Lyanna (contrary to popular belief)it's because the last time he saw Jon, he promised to tell Jon who his mother was the next time he saw him. "When next we meet."
I was really happy when I read that in ADWD, but I assume the followers of the L+R-theory will just consider it a lie. I hope it's the truth, though.
