Rothfuss has a solid writing style, but the two books are pretty dull. He does this odd thing where he'll spend 10 pages on Kvothe getting a new outfit but will then skip an interesting journey and a battle with pirates in a paragraph. It's almost like he's deliberately writing an anti-epic fantasy, which is an interesting and valid approach, but, it has to be said, is often very dull.
Also, in the second book, the main character turns out to be awesome at sex and suddenly overpowers every female character he meets with his sexy time awesomeness. Which is okay until you remember he's only 15 at this point. So that bit is strange.
