do you purchase books specifically for collecting?
I'm not sure what you mean here?
I meant books that you imagine will have a certain value, for example. Rare books, first editions, especially pretty bindings.
Then I don't. I wasn't aware collecting implied a value in what was collected.

I think I was extrapolating from the "collectibility" idea. I have never quite grasped it.

I wouldn't say I collect books for collection's sake, but I don't get rid of them either
