I loved it primarily because I loved the counterpoint between Javert (who I think is an excellent character) and Valjean, and because I had to read it before performing the musical so I was looking into each character more deeply than i usually might. The story was good but definitely not my favourite part. And I love waffling diversions, Stephenson style
