Decided I needed a break from Leeches and this was a considerably easier read, taking me about a day to finish. A Shadow in Summer was quite good, but I never read on despite having the next two books in the quartet... there was always something else to read. The other day it came up in a discussion and I thought it was about time I read on.
I want more fantasy to be like this. I am tired of battles, random fights, and long journeys. I don't want another book with magic flung this way and that, dragons, or an assortment of races. If more epic/traditional fantasy was like this, I would enjoy reading it instead of finding it boring and tedious.
It is a damned shame that this series did not sell well. :/
Now I am reading Felix J. Palma's The Map of Time.

"It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way."
