the pigeonholing thing does get annoying. I try and tell people how great the series is, but they generally just hear "wizard detective."


The growth of the relationships is definitely well done. Harry and Murphy in Book One is almost completely alien to Harry and Murphy in the last couple of books.


The individual characters are pretty great, too. The problem with writing from a first-person POV is that it's easy to get into a "the world revolves around me" mindset. I've really enjoyed the short stories from other perspectives, and am practically salivating to see the Marcone POV.

Actually, the character I'm most interested in now is Molly. I'm not sure I need a POV from her, but if one of the next 5 books had a Molly-centric plot, I'd love that.
