with the rise of amazon i always research my books before buying them Foxhead Send a noteboard - 26/05/2011 02:49:44 PM
And I greatly enjoyed that book.

Anyway, that book you just described sounds interesting.

and i wonder since how many good books i've passed because of a negative review or a comment that makes me reconsidered, because in hindsight i don't think i've ever bought a book that i didn't like upon a picking it up with any knowledge of it or the author

well one stands out, stan nichol's orcs trilogy possibly the worst pile of tosh i have ever read. mostly even with all this research i don't like every book that i buy, but as i said i've not hit too many stinkers with random purchases.

on this i may try being braver more, reading less reviews (with exception to the ones i read here which are often great recommendations or stear clear warnings) and just seeing what catches my eye on a bookshelf. the only drawback is that amazon is so much cheaper
