It was one of my favourites too! But as it contains the word nigger ... I'm wondering if people have tried to ban it ... ? That'd be a shame. It was in my anthology for high school English, one of the better pieces in it, as I remember.
I don't recall "nigger" appearing there, but rather Negro on a few occasions. Antiquated, sure, but not as racially inflammatory, so I doubt there have been as many protests.
