There is quite a bit of references to the more positive qualities that come up in little patches in those stories and sometimes more than that. Those stories you cite aren't representative of all of Faulkner's concerns or character explorations. And I should note that I consider Texas to be only a colony of the South and not a proper part of it
Well, I suppose that stands to reason. Think of it as a colony of TN, but a proper part of the South. At least until you get to Dallas or Austin, but why would anyone want to go to either of those places?
