The UK newspapers have their reviews up, and most of them seems to decline the theme "China Miéville fulfills the promises of his early novels and finally comes into his own with a masterpiece that not only is genuine and excellent science-fiction but stands to get him mainstream literary recognition". One said it's as intelligent and sophisticated as an Umberto Eco novel.
That sounds most promising...
