This post is largely due to thoughts generated from reading a few comments at this site in recent days. This is not meant to be a piss-measuring contest, but rather something that might encourage increased curiosity. Here goes:
1. Try to name up to five spec fic novels released in 2010-2011.
I'd be hard pressed to name five novels released in 2010-11. I rarely keep track of when books arrive, and unless they are by an author I have a particular interest in, I am unlikely to buy them in the first year or two. Add to this limited interest in most fantasy and sci fi and a brain that does not really think in terms of what genre to put things in when reading.
2. What about up to five spec fic anthologies?
No way in hell.
3. Can you identify without looking it up at least two of the Hugo nominees for Best Novel?
Nope.
4. What about the Nebula Award?
Nix.
5. Do you feel that you are relatively well-informed on spec fic novels, especially the newer ones?
No.
6. Which authors (or genre categories) would you like to know more about?
Those I find interesting I read when I have the time.
7. Which spec fic-oriented blogs can you name and/or have visited?
OF, I suppose. Does Roh's blog count as spec fic-oriented? I don't really read genre blogs.
