I almost always do, but I think I might have to stop. I've read too many of them that include spoilers, which I find unnecessary and annoying.

True, introductions generally assume - somewhat strangely - that one has already read the book. Though generally the sort of book that has an introduction - classics, mostly - isn't the sort of book that is really "spoiled" all that much by knowing essential plot points.

I suppose one could read the book first and then come back to the introduction in such cases, it might make more sense that way... but having read the introduction first can have its benefits as well.
