1. Who are you favourite SF/F characters?
Marc Remillard from Julian May's Galactic Milieu Multi series of books.
Tyrion Lanister
Mat
Warden Dios from Donaldson's "Gap Cycle"
1.a What makes them so good?
Well, Mat's povs are just so much fun to read.
So are Tyrion's povs
Marc Remillard is a man who found redemption in a really unusual way, and his life is really quite a circular thing.
Warden Dios was a man who did truly terrible things out of one of the most saintly motives.
Both Dios and Remillard are characters I suggest you meet by reading the books they're in. Both stories are just incredible
2. Who are your favourite Other Literature characters?
Creon from Antigone2.a What do you like about them?
Hard to explain3. What do you think is the most important part of writing a character?
Getting the voice right.4. Who do you think is particularly bad at writing characters?
5. In any literature, which is more important to you: story or characters?
It's a 50/50 mix...I'm currently reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie and I really like his characterisation. The main players have all got fully-formed backstories, and those backstories make sense for the characters they are in the action of the book. It's impressive.
If the human brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn't understand it.

Yeah, Nynaeve throws an awful lot of hissy fits, even when the Forsaken are after them.
