I sat down last night to read this after seeing that so many people seemed to enjoy the book, and I thought it was a pretty quick read.
A couple of things that kind of stood out to me, first I wasn't a big fan of the explanation that was given for the origins of the vampires in the book, or to be more specific why the different things effected them.
I think Matheson is one of the best there is at coming up with titles for his books, and this one is no exception to that. The title is absolutely perfect and in the context of the story makes complete sense. This is a pretty stark contrast to the movie, which at the end leaves you wondering why exactly it's called what it's called.
One question I have though, is would it really be possible to see a germ using the kind of microscope he was using? It doesn't seem like it would have the necessary magnification abilities to spot something like that.
