Yeah. It was crap.

I received a copy from my friend who really liked it and I knew there was a movie out so I went ahead and gave it a try.

The story line follows a teenager alien currently named John Smith. After his native planet had been invaded by other aliens, him and the other eight Loriens fled to America. Each of these nine were babies at the time and they should eventually develop superpowers. To help them along the way, each on has a super powerless Lorien to explain things and train them. Also, before they left some magical old Lorien people made it so that each baby could only be killed in order. Yeah. Each was assigned a number and that they couldn't die unless the numbers before them were killed...

Obviously, he is number four and Three just died. So John and his mentor Henri fled to a small town in Ohio. There John makes friends and enemies, gets his first super powers, falls in love blah blah blah. Just writing the plot summary is boring. The story line is pretty basic and boring and not particularly original so I'll stop there.

The story is written in, interestingly enough, first person and present tense. This, sometimes, helps the story along making some parts almost nice and other times it fades into the background and you don't even notice it. Then, there are still times it is glaringly obvious and it hurts your eyes.

I wouldn't read anymore books in the series if there is one and I wouldn't recommend it. The only selling feature is that you can finish it within a few hours and then move on...
Oh and my username is what it is because I couldn't think of a better username...I'm not trying to be obnoxious.

Cancer never fights fair. Rest in peace Mrs. Cohen, you will be missed.
