I used to read before bed, but I've destroyed my sleep schedule.

I have two part-time jobs, one contract/at my own pace at home, and the other mainly Monday and Tuesday mornings. I'm more of a night owl, so I tend to stay up late Tue-Sat, but I have to be up early Mon and Tue. Anyhow, I don't keep a regular sleep schedule and then just go to bed when exhaustion hits, usually.
I read textbooks at about 10 pgs per hour when in college.
My fiction reading speed was more like 50 pages per two hours, but I know it was more like double that years before.
Also, the stopping to write down notes has crippled my reading speed.
Granted, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by how little your reading speed actually has decreased. I know I feel like the slowest reader ever when I'm doing school work, but I've been blasting through the recent Malazan novels.

Who else has (regretfully) lost much of their joy for reading, and what are your reasons?

I write most of my notes with pen and paper, unless it's a specific idea on a project I've started.

I still think the best solution is to just sit down with some Wodehouse. *NM*

It's more likely the internet, and, to a lesser extent, TV than it is games.

You're either too tired or you've simply outgrown certain kinds of genres/books

I had, to some extent, but then I started working with a 1 hour train commute each way.
