The Not-So-Dirty Half Dozen Challenge task for March and April:

Read a book by an author from a country you've not read a book from before.

I could just go for Orhan Pamuk as I still haven't read any of his books, but that feels a bit cheap as it isn't exactly pushing my boundaries - I'd been meaning to read him for years anyway.

So maybe I'll try and find something a bit less obvious.
And for extra challenging goodness: write a review of the book for us to enjoy here. :)

Genre Challenge

Quite simply, just read one book from each of the genres below before the year is out. Rereads are allowed; it's up to you whether you choose all new books or not. I probably won't.

- Historical Fiction/Alternative History

This won't really be a problem, I've already read some that would qualify.
- Western

I'll have to look for a good one...
- Horror

Here too.
- Mystery

And here.
- (Auto-) Biography

I now own (second-hand, obviously) copies of biographies of Marilyn Monroe and Bette Davis, so possibly one of those. Or both. Or something else. :P Edit: oh, and one of Napoleon Bonaparte. That might be interesting too.
- History

Shouldn't be a problem either, in fact I already read Suetonius' Twelve Caesars (hm, maybe I should review that...), I'm sure I'll read more.
- Family chronicle

I'm thinking of reading the rest of Trollope's "Palliser novels", which I think counts as a family chronicle even if the Palliser family has merely a supporting role in most of the books.
- Allegory/parody/satire

Not sure yet on this one.
- Surrealist novel

Pynchon should count, I'm hoping to finish Vineland this week or next.
- Extra option for those who can: a novel in a foreign language

Already did (no, not counting English), but hopefully I'll get around to reading a novel in a more challenging foreign language - Spanish, I suppose, unless my Arabic really improves faster than I expect.
And don't forget the 50 Book Challenge or picking up a book you've been meaning to read for ages.

Certainly not. :) I doubt I'll get close to 100 as well, but 50 shouldn't be a problem.
