I already finished Persepolis. I now feel like I should read another one. Camilla Send a noteboard - 02/03/2011 09:07:06 AM
So, team.

We had fun with January and February's Challenge, and our members shared many great reviews of the books they read.

Following are the challenges for this twomonth.

Is "twomonth" really a word, or did you make it up?

The Not-So-Dirty Half Dozen Challenge task for March and April:

Read a book by an author from a country you've not read a book from before.

Persepolis was good. Thank you for lending it to me. But I kind of want to pick up this Mahfouz, who Legolas keeps talking about, as well.

And for extra challenging goodness: write a review of the book for us to enjoy here. :)

Genre Challenge

Quite simply, just read one book from each of the genres below before the year is out. Rereads are allowed; it's up to you whether you choose all new books or not. I probably won't.

- Historical Fiction/Alternative History

Well, I did Quicksilver.

- Western

- Horror

I am going to read Kelly Link, I think.

- Mystery

- (Auto-) Biography

- History

- Family chronicle

Does Brideshead Revisited count? It is not what I think of when I hear "family chronicle".

- Allegory/parody/satire

Heart of a Dog by Bulgakov fits here, I think. As does Pratchett's ones. I have yet to review any of them, though.

- Surrealist novel

- Extra option for those who can: a novel in a foreign language

That reminds me, I should pick Vargas Llosa back up.

And don't forget the 50 Book Challenge or picking up a book you've been meaning to read for ages.

I have read three pages into the second book of The Faerie Queene. Then I had to put it aside, and now it is back on the shelf. I will read it. Give me time.
