Perhaps she might like The Princess Bride by William Goldman? I guess that depends on how she feels about the movie.

She might like American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's set in the Real World™ as opposed to epic fantasy land, so that might appeal to her more. I can see the similarities with Kingsolver ...
