I suppose you would describe it as omniscient narrative that is narrowly focalised. But it has been a while since I spent time on that sort of analysis. I'll think on it if you really want to know.

Really? I'm trying to think of a book that uses this type of narration. Just so we are on the same page, here is an example of what I'm talking about:

Dan couldn't believe his luck. Susan, the hottest woman in the office, was talking to him! "Yes, I did see that movie. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, though. Do you want to go?"

Susan sized Dan up, noting his scruffy beard and unwashed hair. She would rather vomit than go on a date with this man."No thanks," she said sweetly.

So you see how the POV changed? That's the style I'm talking about. I find it kind of annoying because I like the story to stick to one character at a time.
