local library book sale today. I had never heard of either of them but the title of one and the cover of the other caught my attention.
Onions in the Stew by Betty MacDonald - The title caught my eye on this one and also that it was with the vintage books and looked like someone had read and re-read it more times than the book could take. I read the first page and that was all it took to hook me. I almost can't wait to start it.
Green Dolphin Street shared the type of binding of some other classics that I have bought. I think that it was part of a large collection of "essential" classics and I have enjoyed the others from that set so I read the first couple of pages and what little blurb there was as the start and took the chance.
I also picked up 1984 by George Orwell and when I do read it there will only be four people left in the civilized world that haven't read it yet. But I am not in a hurry.
The Master of Ballantrae by Robert Louis Stevenson looked like something I might like.
