How to live safely in a science fictional universe by charles yu.

I think the main point there was that there was nothing whatsoever to redeem the book. The plot was bad-ish, the character(s) boring, the imagination somewhat lacking. It wasn't really really bad, but just not good enough on any point.

I was also not happy with "the quantum thief" by hannu rajaniemi , but that is more since the general plot was bogged down in a theory of how external memory could work and what consequences that would have.

Kraken was mildly disappointing, too, but I am glad miƩville took a step away from his usually dense writing (I only read the bas lag novels) and wrote something like this. Now I know he should stick to the style he can do well.

Sorry, every time I see "China Mieville" and remember it's a guy, I just start laughing again. - 27/12/2010 03:45:10 AM 463 Views
