My time is pretty tight so if I want to read more I will need to cut other things out. I have spent a lot of time over the last two weeks building my daughter a dollhouse for Christmas. I could have read three or four books with that amount of time but I don't regret not reading the books.
Books are one of my many interests and right now in my life it moved down the list. I don't worry if people are reading "smarter" books then me or not. I read for enjoyment and so whatever I enjoy is the best book by definition.

Does this ever make you depressed?

I don't measure myself against other people by number of books read.

Probably. It just seems like a shame that you'd figure you like him, and yet don't.

That's a good way of looking at it... a filter to steer people towards the books worth their while.
