Hey Rafonauts
A few questions for you on your reading habits.
1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?
These day I only manage one or two
2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)
about 50-50
3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:
Fantasy
I don't read much fantasy anymore, I would say 10%
Sci-fi
about 40%
Historical Fiction
very rarely
Classics
about 20% but that is new and I haven't read all that many.
Thrillers
just the odd Dean Koontz
Crime/Mystery
almost never
Other fiction stuff (like Ian McEwan, Kazuo Ishiguro etc)
I guess most of that would fall into the classics but I do have Witches Of Eastwich on my nightstand unstarted righst now and I am not sure where that would fall.
Non-fiction
about 50% with the majority history
Graphic Novels
never but there are some I would like to read
Manga
I don't even know what that is
Plays
Not really. I just don't enjoy reading them.
Poetry
now and then but I get stuck going back reading the same poems over again
Short stories (please specify what genre they might belong to)
I am starting to read more scfi shorts but that is more for research then anything else
Magazines
I read Scientific American every month pretty much cover to cover (though I havn't read the last few since my subscription expired. I also read Cooks most months and some other cooking magazines. I will sometimes pick up a military history magazine if I notice one at the book store.
Newspapers
just online and the Dallas Morning News in the break room
4 - Do you read every day?
5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?
I find iot hard to find someone interested in discussing them
5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?
smarter friends
6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?
Only if it is a series I have been following for some time
7 - What do you like to see in reviews?
Clarity and honesty.
Thanks.
