1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?

Back in high school it was 2-3 ish, but since I started college it's been more like 1, and since exams have started more like 1 every 2 months. Not counting textbooks, because they are all very different in size and interest level

2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)

Hm. 30:70 about, I'd say.

3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:

Fantasy

yup
Sci-fi

yup
Historical Fiction

umm... yes, but less often.
Classics

yes
Thrillers

not so much
Crime/Mystery

Not that much either
Other fiction stuff (like Ian McEwan, Kazuo Ishiguro etc)

yes
Non-fiction

it used to be I'd never read any, but it's been increasing
Graphic Novels

On occasion.
Manga

no
Plays

rarely
Poetry

probably the rarest
Short stories (please specify what genre they might belong to)

Some sci-fi/fantasy, some classics.
Magazines

no
Newspapers

I browse the NYTimes online every day.

4 - Do you read every day?

Yes, but not always for pleasure

5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?

It depends. General fiction and non-fiction yes, but I have very few RL friends who appreciate Sci-fi, and I barely mention my love of fantasy (except for HP and LotR, which are socially acceptable).

5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?

Regarding sci-fi and fantasy, I tried to gently introduce some good friends into the genre via movies like GATTACA and Children of Men, but then I ruined it by showing them the first Star Wars. They immediately lost what little respect I had managed to build up for sci-fi

6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?

Not generally.

7 - What do you like to see in reviews?

books that I've read so I can argue with the reviewer.

Thanks.
