I hope it is a trilogy of something.....not an open-ended that will go on for decades.

Kvothe says it will take him three days to tell his story and the first book took a day, so this makes sense.
I don't think the last book will take nearly as long. I've read a lot of stuff where Rothfuss said the success of The Name of the Wind threw him off at first and now he is settling into how to write with all the changes to his life.
