I really wish I had enough ability with another language (German, Spanish or French, really) to be able to read in the original. I don't have the time or energy to learn at the moment either. I envy you people with your multilingualism.

Although I'm (just) capable of doing so, I suppose.
I disagree, as I believe the quote highlights the narrative tension quite nicely, but it might be because I had over twenty pages before then to get used to the prose and its rhythms.

I agree with Rebekah and Camilla. There's something really unsettling about French-to-English.
