I am just so, bored when I read this. I'm about halfway through and I just do not like how this book is. I'm not confused too much, but that is a problem. Something is just rubbing me the wrong way.
Is this supposed to be one of those really awesome books that guys like me just can't appreciate? Because if it is then I apperantly have no taste.
So I pose this question: should I trudge through, or just stop altogether?

I won't repeat the same thing everyone else has already said but they pretty much sum up my thoughts. It took a while to get through Gardens. Deadhouse Gates has the story of Coltaine, one of the best characters I've ever read. and the third book was just non-stop awesomeness. I've read five books and except for the third book they all start slow and build up into a flurry about 2/3 way through.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...

Put it down for a while, then pick it back up. And start at the beginning.

I would say as much as 80% of everyone who reads the book thinks this at first.

I hated it, as well. That seems to be the usual response to it, though.
