A friend of mine gave me a book called Why Boys Are Stupid, clearly targeting 12 year-old girls who love the colour pink, for Christmas last year. I thought it was cute until I read it. Then I sent him an outraged e-mail, thought about how silly that was, and sent him what I first intended to be an apology but ended up being an all too clear evidence of my level of crazy. I mean I already knew I was pretty nazi about the whole gender stereotype thing, I just didn't know I was actually that incapable of accepting a(n admittedly pretty good) joke.
That was just twenty-odd pages, and it had me going in and out of uncontrollable fits of rage for days. I had to throw it away eventually. I'm not sure it would be good for my mental health to read this book, but you still made me want to.
(In my defense, the book really did reduce the male gender to less than nose-picking monkeys, and also seemed to suggest that the height of female achievement lay in her ownership of expensive handbags and ability to walk in high heels. Young teens who are routinely exposed this kind of shit must almost necessarily grow up to perpetuate a cultural phenomena testimony to the depravity of our society. I AM ANGRY AGAIN NOW AND WILL GO SMOKE CIGARETTES & DRINK COFFEE UNTIL FAITH IN HUMANITY IS RESTORED. THANK YOU FOR YOU ATTENTION. BYE.)
