Does it seem to be a parody of the current vampire craze? I confess to being curious of how she got onto her subject matter (an interesting angle of the popular market).
I'm going to include this question.

Her books are not a parody of the current craze (although the word "current" sits uncomfortably with me because there have been vampire stories in English since novels came into being. It's just that they're very popular right now); they're just a different approach.
