You people who own one: did environmental considerations come into play when you bought yours?
No. And it wouldn't. I don't buy the environment argument. Books work as CO2 repositories. And I am sticking to that story.
Would an e-Reader be better for the environemnt? Obviously fewer forests need to be chopped down, which is lovely for the air, but how green are the components?
No. Books once they are made do not rot and do not release the carbon they are holding. In this way, they still function as trees. E-readers, meanwhile, are dependent on electricity. If you are a bibliophile, like me, you are keeping carbon from the atmosphere, and when you read them you add no carbon footprint.
I'm almost ready to demand one for a present, and (honestly) apart from the functional aspect of having loads of books in a small space, the green factor is really the deciding point for me.
Thoughts?
Gave them already.

Honestly, I couldn't have given a rat's ass about its environmental impact.

Your statement about forests shows you don't know about modern forestry

I'm not going to make the obvious comments in response to the phrase "native bush".
