At that time, nobody else was a "reader" in my family...I was maybe 7? I liked to read a bit...but I was still in the kiddie books.

My grandfather was a huge sci-fi fan. He had thousands of books, many from the 1920s and 1930s...all the way to the present (at that time).

He wanted to inspire me to read more. Knowing my love of cats, he gave me a book that contained three novels by Robert Heinlein. Double Planet, Puppet Masters and Door into Summer.

It was Door into Summer he specifically wanted me to read 'cause the lead character in the book had a cat. I was hooked. I've been reading ever since.
