I just like it. It looks pleasant and sounds nice, too.

How would one pronounce Ilyena? When reading, I think ['ilüena] in my head, but that can't be right. Should it be "iliena" (sounds nice) or "iljena" (sounds bad).


I pronounce it semi-palatalised. I think the main reason why it appeals to me is that I love the lj- or ly-sound, like what you get is some Spanish dialects for the ll-sound.

Anything in Icelandic or Irish sounds pretty fictitious to me, and I love the way those languages sound like. Eyjafjallajökull sounds blissfull. And Hvannadalshnúkur.


It stops sounding blissful when it has kept you stranded in Rome for two weeks.

Tolkien had a huge stash of good names. Maedhros is probably a favourite. And Ilmarë, Aiwendil, Celebrían etc..The list goes ever on.
