Actually, I don't think we're that far apart on economics.

I'm moderate right-wing on economics by European standards, you're centrist to moderate right by American standards. Not remotely the same thing, admittedly, but not miles apart either. That is, on economic policy in terms of international economics, free trade, government policy towards companies, and that sort of thing. If you count discussions like that one in the Dostoyevsky thread (I think it was) about how to deal with unemployment and other vulnerable members of society, admittedly the differences may be greater, but then I think the difference is actually more in our social views there than in the strictly economic ones.
And don't get me wrong, it's not that I disagree with your assessment that less regulation and a better business environment would be a good thing in the US. Cutting red tape is rarely a bad thing, obviously. But lower corporate taxes, well, it'd be good if the budget could afford it, but I'm not sure it can, and as long as the rates aren't so high as to make companies move to other Western countries, it's not reallly a problem. It's cheaper to produce stuff in China, but then it's always going to be until China catches up to something resembling your prosperity levels, assuming it ever does.

The probability approaches 1 that we agree on non-economic topics and disagree on economic topics.

Yet we always find the points of contention, rather than the convergences.

True. Maybe we need to post some article/review on free trade, or so.
