I have a sneaking suspicion that America does not do this type of "we're all going to die and we know it" thing -- it is mostly "we're gonna get home to mary jane!" or "we're gonna beat those baddies till they bleed, even if there are a million of them and three of us". I exaggerate, but I keep getting this prejudice confirmed.

Europe has more of a "we're going to die and we know it, but we are going to do it anyway" thing going. Positive thinking not so much a thing around here. We see through it.

I am as European as they come but you'd never hear that from my mouth, nor would I care much for characters who talk that way. I am more the "Fuck this, I am gonna make it outta here" kinda guy and I expect the same from my characters. Only losers die.

I wasn't talking so much about individual attitudes as a tendency in film and literature.
