I can certainly understand not wanting to dilute the site purpose

google and other search engines being smart enough to find objects in the menu, and it would be wrong not to have the primary focus of the site in a menu title.
So yeah, it is about diluting the focus, and not pulling the right kind of people.
And can understand that leaving things as they are is probably the best option, but we shouldn't rule out expanding our focus as well. Nowadays the concept of discussing all types of books interests me more than just discussing SF&F (even if SF&F may still be the majority of what I read and discuss)
I also wouldn't assume that people are arriving at the site via a search engine or that even if they do that will somehow allow them to understand the site structure as a whole. In fairness however the time most new visitors would spend lurking before making a post would probably allow them to learn the rules of what goes where.

That's always been the dilemma, and I think/hope the compromise solution works.

That sounds a very good idea, both for the community, and for supporting the site various ways.

Make my threads blink. I am important and as such, deserve a blinking thread. Trim it with fire too *NM*

I'm not an expert, but that doesn't seem like it's possible atm... would be a big change in any case

I'd rather have the blinking threads trimmed in fire for my posts only. *NM*
