$26 or so per volume would have been a relative bargain for me!
I guess your disposable income is a bit higher than mine, then. Or it might be a matter of priorities, I suppose.
Shouldn't take you too long to read Ficciones, though. One story shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes or so and even if it's only 1 a day, you'd still finish it in 2-3 weeks with little effort. Bolaño takes a bit more effort per page, though.
Oh, it wouldn't, except there's so much I have to read that I don't know what order it'll all be in. First priority atm is still the Master and Margarita (which I also have in Spanish, and that reads okay, but since it's in Spanish, relatively slow in comparison).
So I actually managed to read a few books while on holiday... go me.

Should I start lying about my progress to turn up the pressure, then? *NM*

I paid $45-50 (counting shipping) for the nine Sapkowski books I own!

$26 or so for the book, $20-25 for the shipping

Yikes. One by one, I take it, to have such high shipping costs?

Sometimes two at a time, but I bought them as the new editions came out

I'll let you know if that was the right decision once I get around to reading it. *NM*
