Yeah. Haig writes for both adults and children, and says that his adult books will always have a 17-year-old feel to them because that's where part of his mind sits.

Yes. I don't know if it was because you had told me that it had started out as a screen play, but I kept noticing scenes that were very visual. There was also a tendency for expositionary (is that the word?) sentences in dialogue, which you rarely find in literature, but which is a necessary part of films.
So was I. That kind of an ending would probably fit with a YA book.
Yes, it had the "let me teach you how to live a good life through this unreal story" feel.
