But anyway, I pose that same question to you my friends, thought let's not limit ourselves to just two books: what is your favorite piece of dystopian literature, and what depiction of a dystopia do you think is the most realistic/more likely to occur?

I don't know that I have a "favorite" in this. I typically go in different directions (since these are usually kind of depressing).
That said, I can see 1984 more likely happening (at least on a shorter time frame) than Brave New World. Big Brother is already watching, right, but where's my Soma? I actually enjoyed reading both of these, as well as Fahrenheit 451 back in the school days.
Much better than Charlotte Bronte. On a more recent time frame, Children of Men and The Road are both fairly realistic in my mind. While we're not all sterile yet (children of men), I can see us getting there. I can see something like China's stance on baby girls, (bad enough as it is) becoming some sort of over correction, which feeds into medical adjustments and ruins us all from procreating.
The Road (watched last night) is painfully realistic. I think the most realistic thing I've seen in this genre, honestly, from my limited experience. I had a hard time watching it all the way through because it’s about raising/protecting a child in that environment.
